The Master in Digital Journalism is designed to prepare students and young communication professionals for a radically new professional landscape. Students who complete this program will be equipped with all the necessary skills to work as a successful journalists or content managers in a globalized and interconnected world of information.
Students will not only receive rigorous professional training in reporting and editing functions across all new media; they will also acquire a high degree of technological proficiency and, in line with IE's entrepreneurial philosophy, develop a new understanding of the media industry's transformation while being equipped with a broad set of tools to create and run digital communication-related businesses.
As part of its practical and professional approach, the Master in Digital Journalism will focus on the development of intellectual, creative and managerial skills, with a firm foundation in ethics and critical thinking, and on training journalists who are able to deal with complexity and have a deep understanding of the contemporary world.
IE School of Communication’s Master in Digital Journalism is designed to equip students with extensive knowledge of current and emarging approaches to digital journalism and new media. This includes learning how to write and report for new digital media, developing multimedia journalistic projects and creating original approaches to strategy and production processes.
By the end of the program, students will be ready to embark on solid, innovative, entrepreneurial careers as journalists who are responsive to a rapidly changing field, leveraging their newly-acquired skill set to draw larger audiences in whichever specialist field they choose.

The Master in Digital Journalism is an intensive, ten-month program divided into three periods that run from October to December, January to March and April to July. Students will be attending all class sessions at our IE campus in Madrid, with a number of MediaLab sessions at our campus in Segovia.

The Master in Digital Journalism welcomes graduates with backgrounds in different disciplines such as Economics, Business, Journalism, Media, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, as well as Communication, Marketing and History.

During the program you will:

Admission is granted on a rolling basis and although early application is recommended, there is no deadline for applications for a particular intake. Admission is valid for two years.

To be considered for admission, a candidate must submit the following with their applications:
- Evidence of completion of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university
- One-page CV
- Two letters of recommendation
- Official university transcripts (certified translation into English or Spanish)
- English language certificate (Cambridge Proficiency, TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS,EOI) for non-native English speakers. No certificate is required if you completed an undergraduate degree in English
- Photocopy of current passport
- One passport-size photo
- Duly completed application form, including all supporting documents
- Optional submission of portfolio sample work
- Application fee of 125€ (non-refundable and payable by credit card or cash)
Our rigorous selection process is geared towards selecting those candidates that demonstrate the highest potential. The process is divided into three steps:

- Personal interview
- Final decision

The tuition fees for the Master in Digital Journalism for the October 2013 intake total €19,200, including a €1,200 contribution to the IE Foundation.
Admission is valid for two years, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their experience. To reserve a place on the Master in Digital Journalism, intake students are required to make a deposit of €4,000 + the contribution to the IE Foundation (€1,200).
